Joseph Campbell
Assistant Professor · Computer Science · Purdue University
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Purdue University, where I lead the Collaborative AI for Machines and People (CAMP) Lab. My research bridges machine learning and robotics, with a particular focus on explainable and interpretable machine learning.
My primary goal is to develop introspective agents — systems that understand their own knowledge and limits, and can use that self-awareness to learn more effectively over time. I approach this through interpretability, sample-efficient learning, and theory of mind.
